  • Days

Highlights:

  • Interaction with local people.
  • Bike through ancient temples, farmlands, forests and small villages
  • Exploration of the beautiful countryside of Kathmandu Valley
  • Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park exploration

This is one of the most popular cycling routes within the Kathmandu Valley, and it is your chance to see the outskirts of Kathmandu much more closely. As we move from Kathmandu the hustle and bustle of the city slowly recedes, and you will find the villagers living casually, more of a relaxed life. This tour passes through Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park – the ninth national park in Nepal, established in 2,002 AD. On your way, you will witness the sleeping statue form of Lord Vishnu within the premises of Budhanilkantha Temple.

We will assemble at our Thamel office in Kathmandu at 7 am and start cycling from Kathmandu (1,350 m) to Balaju, then we will bike for about 23 kilometers along Trishuli Bazaar road to reach Kakani (2,073 m). Kakani is a famous picnic spot among Nepalis. We will stop at Kakani for lunch and for sight-seeing the beautiful mountain ranges which includes Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Then we will start biking and pass through Shivapuri National Park, home to 129 species of mushrooms, 2,122 floral species and 318 species of birds.

After riding through Shivapuri Park, we will be heading towards the famous Hindu temple – Budhanilkantha, where you can see a huge sleeping statue of Lord Vishnu in a pond. After this temple visit, we will cycle back to our office. The whole tour is quite demanding, so you need to be fit to finish the whole tour.
